Ryhmäteatterin 50-vuotisjuhlavuoden näytelmäksi valittu Peer
Gynt tarjoaa jo lähtökohdiltaan monitukintaisen maaston. Henrik Ibsenin symbolistinen näytelmä etsii jälkiä itsen ympäriltä
pyörittämällä päähenkilöään niin maanpäällisen kuin sen alla olevan elontien
tuulissa. Tämän päivän itsekeskeisen ilmapiirin pyörteisiin näytelmä sopii siis
erityisesti.
Juha Kukkosen
ohjaama esitys on melkoinen summaus, joka on pakotettu riimiteltyyn
runomittaan. Pohjana on Otto Mannisen
suomennos, jota Kukkonen on itse täydentänyt. Riimitelty versio on hupaisaa,
mutta paikoin huomaa yrittävänsä arvata seuraavaa riimiä ja menettää jotain
oleellista.
Visuaalisesti esitys on taidokas. Jyrkkä vuoristomaisema
taittuu moneksi, kun sen seinämät rakoilevat ja värittyvät eri tiloiksi. Vuori
toimii myös vaikean matkanteon erilaisina variaatioina. Koreografiaan on
satsattu ja liikekieli on kautta linjan vahvaa. Niin värikäs ja luimuileva vuorenpeikkojen
väki kuin kuolemaa kuvaavat äänettömät eläinhahmot ovat vaikuttavia.
Näyttelijäntyö on Ryhmäteatterissa aina taidokasta. Mutta, henkilökohtaisesti
koin etenkin näytelmän alun häiritsevän meluisaksi. Miksi äiti ja Peer huutavat
toisilleen kaiken aikaa? Tilanne on toki kurja alkoholisti-isän juotua koko
omaisuuden niin, että kotina on rähjäinen asuntovaunu. Poikakin on
laiskanpuoleinen turhanpuhuja, vaan äidilleen kovin rakas.
Peer pakenee retkilleen etsimään unelmiaan. Siellä hän kokee
niin mainetta kuin pimeiden häkkien löyhkäävää hulluutta. Kaiken aikaa
päällimmäisenä on toive, että hän olisi kylliksi itselleen, mikä ei tunnu täyttyvän
lainkaan.
Santtu Karvonen
liukuu Peerinä vahvasti tunnetilasta toiseen ja käyttää kehoa rohkeasti. Mimiikka
kuplii ja kipristelee niin liikevoitot taskussa kuin ne menettäneenä. Tähän
hahmoon on helppo hullaantua. Minna
Suurosen äiti on lähtökohdiltaan pelkkää surua ja käpertyneen oloinen
olemus toteuttaa roolin sisintä hyvin.
Näytelmässä on yli 50 roolihahmoa. Näyttelijöitä on
seitsemän, joten kiivaasti saavat huhkia roolista toiseen. Puvustus on nopeista
vaihdoista huolimatta erinomaisen monipuolinen. Dovren-ukko (Robin
Svartström) houkuttelee ja juonii peikkolaumoineen ja perää annettuja
lupauksia turhaan, herkkä Solveig (Laura
Halonen) odottaa uskollisena metsämökissään. Näiden alkuperäistekstin hahmojen
lisäksi Peer kohtaa matkoillaan kirjavan joukon väkeä.
Osin uusiksi kirjoitetut, tähän päivään sijoittuvat
kohtaukset eivät aivan särmättä sulaudu kokonaisuuteen. Bangladeshin
